These are folks that I can't start my day without. I sense a pattern here - they're all journals kept by young women. (Imagine that!)

· House of the Moon: Lunesse has kept this journal for a long time. She dances with my friend Beach, so sometimes it's a little weird to talk to find real-life intersecting with Web-life.

· Toasted Spiral: Another Bay Area journal. I enjoy learning about Sufi from what Satya writes here. She is often cryptic, but enjoyably so.

· Jellyfish: Currently on hiatus. I confess - I have a crush on Siobhan. She's funny, self-aware, concise in her writing, and has lots of interesting stuff going on in her life. Plus I enjoy getting a peek into the life of a New York girl.

· 3B: Another New York girl, Anne is an actor and has a way of quickly and compactly imparting a lot of information humorously.

· Into the Great Wide Open: I first made Miss World's acquaintance on the Bust bulletin boards. Outspoken, courageous, and very intelligent, she's currently battling thyroid cancer.

· The Only Thing I Ever Stole Was A Diary Key: Heather has her own battle - getting on with life after her marriage broke up. I love her stream-of-consciousness style of writing. She updates frequently, in bursts. And she's moving to Austin at about the same time I am.

· Nidbits: Another Heather, this one quiet and thoughtful and very detailed in her accounts. She has a very matter-of-fact type of writing that I find calming.

· Ones and Zeroes: Kill's writing is growing on me by leaps and bounds. Funny, factual, and wry, she doesn't mince words and writes with a very personal style that makes you feel like she's sitting across from you.

· My Life in 12-Point Font: Snarkily goofy in her writing, Jan has just the right balance of self-deprecation and wonder to keep me smiling.

· See Jane Live, See Jane Learn: A little bit boy-crazy, a little bit lost, Jane is a very sweet person who is very bravely finding her way around and into herself. Sometimes painful to read in that "Oh god I've been there" sense.

· Sleepwalker: Molly Zero used to be well-known for the train-wreck quality of her life as represented in her journal, but she's started taking SSRIs and settled down some. I enjoy reading her to see how a person can move from self-destructive to self-aware with developing gracefullness.

· Like Sands Through the Hourglass: Jen is another SF-based journaler and writes in an interestingly clinical fashion about her job, her studies and her love life. I like reading her for the local color. Like Lunesse, she's been keeping a journal for a long long time (in Internet time, anyway).

· Lemonade and Cigarette Smoke (formerly Sure Not Shy): One of my regular correspondents. I learn a lot from reading Faith's journal, both about her and about myself.

Journals That I Appreciate But Don't Read Every Day:

· First Person Particular

· Nobody Knows Anything

· Inside

· Squishy
